About Gnote Management
With its headquarters based in Toronto, ON, Canada, GNOTE MANAGEMENT is a development and management company serving artists in the urban music sector. Owner and operator, CEO Gail E. Phillip has had a long standing professional career in the music entertainment industry and offers her experience and passion for R’n’B music by assisting clients in the management of their professional music careers. GNOTE MANAGEMENT believes in providing a variety of outlets for creative expression for their clients at an international level. Gail acquired early experience assisting with a number of projects including associations with the NABFEME (National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment), the Canadian Urban Music Awards (CUMA) and other promotional events. It was in a very chance meeting one evening in 2002, that Gail would meet the Toronto based artist that would propel her ambitions of heading up her own company into reality. In 2003, in partnership with Kevin “Kid Kut” Keith (formerly of the Baby Blue Soundcrew, currently of X-Caliber Entourage), they formed a company called Reach records and signed talented R’n’B singer Ray Robinson as their first artist.
Ray went onto have a very successful year in 2004 with his debut album “What It Is”, and Gail’s efforts as his manager did not go unrecognized having garnered a CUMA nomination for “Management of the Year”. Today, Reach Records under the name GNOTE MANAGEMENT is home to two Juno nominated recording artists, Ray Robinson and rising R’n’B starlet, Kim Davis.

Bio
Gail Phillip
CEO, President
Gail Phillip knew she’d one day contribute to getting more R&B heard on the Canadian airwaves. Phillip schooled herself on the ins and outs of the Canadian Urban Music scene or lack thereof. After working on a slew of projects and associations ranging from NABFEME (National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment), the Canadian Urban Music Awards (CUMA) to various promotional events, Phillip was equipped to take on her next challenge. In a chance meeting, Phillip knew she had discovered a gem after hearing the soulful melodic lyrics of a local artist at a Toronto nightspot in the summer of 2002.
Founded in 2003, Reach Records company, a collaboration between G-Note Entertainment and Kevin “Kid Kut” Keith of Baby Blue Sound Crew, signed on versatile, talented R&B vocalist, Ray Robinson as their first artist.
“I knew I wanted to be part of Urban music being heard in light of the struggles faced with R&B getting play in Canada.” Phillip was instrumental in the marketing and promotion of Robinson’s first album (distributed by Universal Music Canada), “What It Is” and touring him throughout various venues across Canada. She also sought complete funding from FACTOR (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Record) and VIDEOFACT for his entire album including production on four videos such as the hit remix “Be The One”.
Her relentless work yielded a 2004 CUMA win for R&B Recording of the year as well as 3 nominations for Best R&B Video (Much Music Video Awards 2004), New Artist (CUMA 2004), and Favourite Urban Artist (Canadian Music Week Independent Awards 2005). “What It Is” was also released in the UK Market via 2 Funky Records. The self-driven manager found herself personally nominated for none other than Management of the Year for the 2004 CUMA.
For the last 5 years, Gail was VP of Reach Records. She owns and operates an artist management company called G Note Management. Gnote’s clients are Juno nominee and CUMA winner Ray Robinson and R & B singer Ms. Kim Davis. Her mentors read as a list of who’s who in the music business: Phenomenal Women such as Tina Davis- Def Jam, Johnnie Walker-Def Jam, Vivian Scott Chew-Epic and Marthe Reynolds-Def Jam.
Gail most recently was the Artist Relations Director for the Urban Music Association of Canada, Canadian Chapter President for NABFEME and is currently on the Music Advisory Committee for Ontario Media Development Corporation and RnB Selection Commit
